    Packing graphite recommended?

I'm just a beginner so this is just my opinion. I saw this video and at first thought it was a cool idea. After I thought about it though I wonder how you'd guarantee that the axle is exactly centered in the graphite/alcohol mix when it hardens. I'd think it would be easy to get a wobbly wheel...

Help figuring out a steering issue

I was able to spend some time on it last night when I got home from work and found my rear alignment was the main culprit. I moved some weight but that didn't help. I pulled the rear axles and replaced them with #44 drill bits. I don't have any of the specialized tools that Lightning boy was...

Help figuring out a steering issue

Thanks guys. Funny, the front is narrowed on the car that's tracking straight but not on the one that's having the issue. I thought about that being a possible cause so we bent the axle a little more to compensate. Didn't seem to help. Also the body is done and my son put a lot of time into...

Help figuring out a steering issue

Pinewood Derby World Championship Times Square 2017

Great video. It was like I was still there. Even see some of the folks that I met while patiently waiting in the check in lines. Glad Jackson did well and no doubt had a great experience.

    Getting started

I don't know anything about black ice prep, but the "excess wood" refers to cutting about 1/4 from the back of the block and gluing to the front. This lets you move the COM back as far as possible while still using the stock axle slots. Cut much more than that and the rear wheels would hang out...

    Getting started

Hello all. This is my first post outside of an intro. Getting ready to get going on 4 builds, 2 stock cub cars and 2 outlaw cars. These are strictly for Cub Scout pinewood derby racing. No pro stuff here. (Yet) I figured I'd post our pack rules, and give you all a description of the track...

Thanks everyone. Work has begun here at our garage so I'll start a new post with a list of the rules and a couple of questions to get us going. Thanks again, Brian

    New guy saying hello

Happy new year and hello to everyone here on this board! Can't tell you how glad I am to have found and joined this forum. I'll try to keep this one brief, and come back later with the pile of questions I have. A little history and an idea of why I joined. 2 years ago I helped 2 of...
