    Tuning Board Height

How do you stage the car, with the front wheel already touching the rail?

    Tuning Board Height

Thanks, I kinda thought I was probably using way to short of a board (shelf). I will have to get a longer one and also add the strip for it to ride along.

    Tuning Board Height

So is your board 4 ft. Total in length, the one that I'm using is but I've wondered if most people made sure they had a full 4 ft of travel or use a 4 ft board and put the car as close as you can to the back. I know it isn't a big difference...

2019 Awana Grand Prix is in the books. The Cup comes home again!

Ya a lot of the people in our pack were like that too. They would probably think I was completely insane if they knew how many hours we had into our car. We still have all of his scout and awana cars, even the first couple that were real snails.

Benefits of ultralight / ladder bodies

Ha ha, this year at our race it was my son who kept going up and readjusting the pillow before his car ran. He has crossed over to boy scouts so he was retrieving the cars after they raced. Later I asked him why only before his race, he said cause the other cars were barely hitting it

    Front Weight?

Yes our second year at scouts there was a school bus that used pretty much the whole block of wood that was pretty fast.

    Lathe

I think both ace and darkside have good points. If you cut the fixture on the lathe and leave it in there it will provide very little runout. If you are wanting to make a fixture and then use that same one multiple times then a collet chuck would be a little easier. You can still use 3...

    Front Weight?

Yes, whatever you decide for the weight do it quickly. I'm sure he has a paint job in mind and you really want a fair amount of time to devote to your wheels and axles. Best of luck at your race, hope you guys smoke em.

Are washers, graphite pads... worth it?

    Thank you

Are washers, graphite pads... worth it?

If I were to run air shields would I still put some of this film between, where the tire would rub. We are currently working on a car for mid am. I was Going to order delrin washers but this may help keep width a little tighter.

Are washers, graphite pads... worth it?

Glad to read this, I've only ran graphite in the past and wondered what was best once I make the jump to oil.

When the glue dries it will be very hard, if you could use a delrin washer that would be better but if not allowed then it will be harder than the paint or bare wood.

I used loctite liquid and just put a thin layer and let dry. After it was dry I sanded smooth and rubbed the graphite into it.
