    4 on the floor

After years of allowing lifted wheel and rail running, our BSA Council in their misguided wisdom decided to impose a 4 wheels touching rule. They also did not well communicate the rule change prior to our District race. After just about breaking the cars to get the 4th wheel down, my sons still...

    Cub Victory

I think the tape worked OK but I don't have much to compare it with. It was pretty fragile and I had to replace it a number of times. So, I think I will try something else next time. I read that polished CA glue works well and maybe even better than Sally Hansen. Scout race season is coming...

How to cut "Dummy Slots" without messing up your drilled holes?

Our rules state "Axles must stay in originally provided slots". This leaves little wiggle room for cutting new slots. So, I cut off the rear of the car to make 5/8" from rear and CA'ed the piece to the front. I then filled the slots with wood epoxy and drilled holes using Silver Bullet Pro. I...

    District Champs...times 2.

Council update: Only one of my son's could make it to Councils. My Tiger had a championship Tball game and made the tough decision to support his team. My Bear took 2nd place in Bears and 2nd place to the same guy in the Finals. It was a great day. So, not Council Champions but close...

    Emergency Advice

By the way, their scale was measuring everyone heavy. So, without trim weight, I would have been in trouble. I definitely would have needed to remove a cube and add back putty for trim. I had my tool box, and helped a bunch of scouts get their cars to weight.

    Emergency Advice

Hey guys, Thanks again for all the input. I ended up leaving the car as it was. My son got 2nd in the Bears pack race and then 2nd in the finals to the same guy. He went home with 2 trophies, a smile on his face and a great 1-on-1 day for the two of us. This makes me a happy Dad. I'm a bit...

Yep, learned my lesson on the cubes. Tape it is from now on. I'm not sure how close the race will be. We beat our main competition from our District but there was another guy that beat us at Council last year. Don't know we have enough to get him. But we will find out...let em roll!!!

I'm going to leave it alone. Save the fenders for another time. Thanks for the responses.

The center area that is filled with balsa is not covered with monokote. There is not enough balsa to make any difference if I removed that.

No place to remove wood. I think their scale only has 0.1 oz res, so I have gotten away with up to 5.05 and I am just under that now.

And unfortunately, my 1/4" cubes are CA'ed in place, so some risk of damage if I pop one out.

    Emergency Advice

Hey Guys, My son's Council race is tomorrow. From advice here, I wanted to add the GEE Diamond fenders. DD4H got them to me on time (thanks for that!!). I got both the lead and trailing fenders. I got them ready to install and decided to weigh everything before I installed. My original...
