    Hub Coning

Using a hub tool and free handing the hub shaping process will probably do more damage than good. Unless you have a lathe, you would be better off leaving the shape of the hubs as stock and just polishing them. That being said, a coned hub if done on a lathe is a definite speed advantage.

Help understanding why my cars are so slow

Looking at the rear wheels, the alignment is definitely off. The slots on the blocks is often out of square with the block. You may also have a lower quality bore in your new car's wheels. You may want to take the wheels and axels off your previous car and see how they run on the new care. A...

    Air Shields and Fenders

Not sure if I follow the question. There are two popular versions of fenders. Full fenders and x3 fenders. Full fenders are pretty straight between the wheels. The x3 has more of an hourglass shape. Both have proven results. For trailing fenders, I try to keep the top, bottom and sides...

Tungsten Cubes are Not Created Equal

I wouldn't get too hung up on the slight differences in your tungsten cubes. You could mix and match them in an attempt to make it as equal as possible for your scouts. The faster car will probably come down to which one has the better alignment, wheel bores and prep. This hobby comes down...

Three rows of 6 1/4th inch cubes behind the back axle

A 65 gram solid block is ok behind the rear axle. Much will depend on the quality of the track and the alignment of the car. You may need to run a bit more steer to get the car stable if something is a bit off.

Three rows of 6 1/4th inch cubes behind the back axle

It is very difficult to build a stable running car with 15-18 cubes of tungsten behind the rear axle. If you use the existing axel slots, it will be even more difficult. Most cars will do well with up to 12 cubes of tungsten behind the rear axle. I would also suggest that those 12 cubes be...

    Air Shields and Fenders

Yes, they will make your car faster as long as you maintain clearance with wheels and track. Like John mentioned, it really shows in traffic.

    Air Guide rubbing on DFW

I normally don't run into this problem, especially with 2.0 gram and Mid Am wheels. They have quite a bit of material removed from the inside of the wheel. Are you using a stock BSA wheel? What type of air guide are you using? What is the diameter of the air guide?

New member intro, and a (long) scout car/race question

There are many places that will build and sell you a car. That being said, I don't think any of the cars approach a pro level. The Blue 2019 car appears that it may be on lightened wheels. This is a big advantage. Are light wheels allowed? It's also curious that none of the cars show any...
