Who is Ready for the Mid America Pinewood Derby 2017 - updated

Hey, I just have a quick question. Does anybody have any way to contact the officials at the race? On one of our heats our scout car was replaced with another car that ran a tenth of a second slower (3.05 vs 2.95). I'm freaking out! Thanks!

Approach to lanes without center rail

Any tips/techniques/tuning on how to set up a car for use on a track without a center rail? I'm kind of lost on where to start. Thanks!

    3D Printed Fenders

Thanks for the heads up! I printed it with 1mm gaps front and back, but then I realized I could push the fender against the back wheel since it's dead. Now I have a 2mm gap. What is a good gap and how do you plan on a gap for the front wheel if you haven't tuned it yet?

    3D Printed Fenders

I put some dummy axles in the axle slots before I sprayed it. I just stuck some junk wheels on those axles to get the full effect of how the fender fits. I'm not using those wheels or axles on the final car. In fact, you can see some super glue strings on the front wheel.

    3D Printed Fenders

This is the first finished car with the printed fender. The single fenders are Gee fenders from John, but the middle fender is printed.

    3D Printed Fenders

After a few days of trying to make some fenders out of wood, I realized fenders would be 10x easier if they were 3D printed. Therefore after a ten minute mock up and a quick low-res print job, I made this: I printed this really thick and with 10% infill, so I don't even have a good estimate...

    Show Off Your Street Rods!

Do you guys have any tips for installing the windows? I haven't completed a model since middle school, but I remember my windows always looked like crap. Glue, paint, knife marks. I could never keep them nice.

    Percentage Differences

Abusing numbers? Yeah, a little bit, but they are still truthful even if slightly deceiving. A 2% difference seems minuscule, but using the same math: A new V6 Camry does the 1/4 mile in about 14.5 seconds. A new base Corvette does the 1/4 mile in about 12 seconds. That is a 17% difference...

You guys make this too easy.

That's awesome! Nice work! It's amazing how much good info is on this site. There is loads of information on PWD on the Internet. Yet, none of the other sources back up their claims with real race wins. Buy DD4H products and listen to the advice of everybody on that list on the left. It's that...

NPWDRL FIRE SERIES RACE #2 INFO!!!

No cars for me either. I've got a big test at school coming up and unfortunately PWD time had to be sacrificed. I just got my new body for a street rod though so hopefully I'll have it ready for the next race.

A new proposal for the 2016 Mid-America Rules

Let's change the thread name to ridiculous YouTube videos. Ones with auto tuned songs are especially preferred. http://youtu.be/6lutNECOZFw http://youtu.be/AtrZYSPbujI

A new proposal for the 2016 Mid-America Rules

That quote by Resphonic has to be the most psychologically deep bit of writing on this site. Either that or the Mr Chips quote about him doing the Fat Boy Shuffle.

    HUGE 4th of July SALE!!!

Random question for John: Do you prefer PayPal or credit card? I know PayPal has pretty steep fees, but depending on your credit card processor their fees can be quite high as well.
