New "post race inspection" rule for districts this year.

This should be interesting. Wonder if they will really do it. We have had some cars in the past that were very fast that I'm guessing were using some colorful interpretations of the rules (read wish I had known that). Wonder if this will slow them down??

    Max Pro and Graphite??

Would Max Pro and Graphite work well together or should I stick with Pledge?

    Oil prep question

Thanks, That's what I thought, but was getting concerned that I may have missed something.

    Oil prep question

Is it normal for an oil prepped wheel/axel to have a shorter spin time than a graphite prepped wheel/axel?

    Times kept getting slower

Axels: Prepped to 12 K Forgot! Zero Friction prep too. Pledge left to dry then excess wiped off. Wheels: Novus 2 Red Rocket (twice) 2 hrs dry time Graphite burnished with the axel. Wood track. Not sure of length but guessing 35 feet. First pass was 19.01 mph. Average for the heat was 18.99...

XLR8, I wish I hadn't forgot to buy some good stuff from DD4H. Probably wouldn't be having this much of an issue if, I had.

    Times kept getting slower

No groves in the axes allowed.

    Times kept getting slower

Hmm, hadn't thought about that. The track was an older wooden one and could have been dirty. Looking at the speeds for the other cars, seems like all but one got slower too.

    Times kept getting slower

Wondering if I didn't burnish the graphite in enough. I used pledge and graphite. Speed was the best on the first run and then every run after was slower. Could have been the horrible crash box at the end of the track too. Cars where bouncing half way back up the track. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Thanks everyone, I'm would love to use the Rage's, but I think that is pushing the rules a bit. I'm going with the BASX just to be sure there are no issues. I'm sure there will be others there with better wheels, but I will sleep better this way

    Thank you!

Reply from District in Red I want to be sure I dont have a misconception about what modified wheels means. Scout Derby rules below. [list type=decimal]Only the wheels supplied with the official Cub Scout derby kit may be used. Cars with modified or old-style wheels will be disqualified...

    Thank you!

Exactly! So if I decide the whole wheel is imperfect, I should be able to do anything to perfect it.... right. Ha Ha

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm hoping I will get an answer to my email to district sometime soon. I will let you know what they say.

    Thank you!

Hi Guys, I want to say thank you all for the great advise. My son had a great time this year because of all your helpful advise. He won every race and was the fastest car the track owner had ever seen. On to District! I'm guessing the tech inspection at district wont allow my light wheels, so...
