Proposed rule change for the next series BASX

Just my two cents, but I think there are two reasons for keeping things the way they are with having no weight restriction on the NDFW. The first is that since we have been doing it this season everyone is or should be starting to get used to it. I have started to accumulate a few NDFW’s that...

RACE DATE CHANGE TO JUNE 3rd!!!

I sent two BASX cars. The holiday messed me up a little bit with oiling though.

RACE DATE CHANGE TO JUNE 3rd!!!

The race starts at 6:00 Mountain time or Eastern time?

Car is ready 10 days before race. Ok to leave untouched until race day?

I understand, I’ve been the same way several times. Just remember, graphite will only run for so long. It will get faster with the first 3-4 passes, and then run at its peak for 6-8, but then it will slow down. So don’t run the heck out of it.

I was taught a long time ago that when you have a car that runs a good time on your test track to do two things. 1. Put it in the box 2. Don’t look at it funny my suggestion would be that if it is running a time that you think is really good to not mess with it. Are you running oil or...

Going to council level race but what about the lemon pledge?

It’s not necessarily damaging the car, it’s damaging the wheels. The surface of the treadmill will skeet have and nick up wheels.

Going to council level race but what about the lemon pledge?

I hear ya, but I’m telling you it’s not a good idea, Lol. I don’t build many graphite cars, but you will be fine just putting it in and spinning the wheels like Jupiter said. I’d look for wobbles by rolling it on a table of some kind. Preferably a wooden or glass one if you have one. Tables are...

Going to council level race but what about the lemon pledge?

I have never used a treadmill to tune because I was told not to ever use one before I ever even really got into league racing. I’ll ask you this with your wobble. How do you know that the wheel is what caused the wobble? Wouldn’t it make more sense that the treadmill surface caused it to wobble...

Going to council level race but what about the lemon pledge?

Yep, tuning on a treadmill is not the right way to go. I know some YouTube videos show people tuning their cars on a treadmill but they’re just tuning the speed out of their cars.

In my opinion, glueing in the axles is one of the worst things you can do. Can you get them out? If not, then I’d say no to the pledge because I don’t see a way to do it cleanly. If you do add graphite, go easy, don’t go crazy with it. The one thing you can do is clean your wheels. Most racers...

    Sanding PTFE Tape

When I put the tape on, I just have it lined up with the height of the car (0.25 inches in the rear) and have it go a quarter inch or so down either side of the hole. Nothing fancy

    Sanding PTFE Tape

If it's just around the axle hole, they won't see it. It's not a rule breaker because it's not a washer or bushing. Even if they do somehow see the clear sticker behind the wheel, it'd be hard for them to say that it's a sticker or washer. Absolute worst case you just remember where your axles...

    Sanding PTFE Tape

Are you running the tape all the way down the car? You only really need to put a half inch or so where the axle holes are.

Won the Districts - Thanks and Any Council tips?

For wheels, is there a weight limit? Or anything about needing to keep the tread bumps? If not, then I’d go with Mid America wheels.

I suggest getting the tuning groove in the head for all 3 axles. The grooves for where the wheel rides will only help you if that was what you’re referring to. Or if you meant the groove to bend the axle, in that case, I’d only groove the front axle.
