Here’s a pic of the cars we’re sending to Nationals. They’re all scout/dad built cars and we’re entering them in the Street Stock Pro class. Watch out Pony, Kinser, QT, JBD, W&K . . . Hello Kitty is a sleeper! /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Let’s see some pics of what you’re sending to Nationals . . .

Got my order in the mail today, along with a huge honey-do list. Going to be a long 2 weeks but I'll be putting in 2 basx and making the jump into street stock. First time working with gee fenders, going to be fun!!!!!

Nice Camaro Joel!!
The first ever Street Rod thatIi Built was the same car. Makes me want to bring it out and rebuild it. I think somewhere along the way I lost the rear window though.
Cant wait to see it run...nice job!
Hopefully there will be a lot of street rods at the Nationals. This really is one of the funnest classes to run. If you like Street Stock, this will be right up your alley. So come on every one, get it built and send it in!!

That car looks sick Joel, killer stance. Zeeb is right, street rod is a blast and it shares the same wheel rules with SS so if you race SS you already have wheels for SR.

Thanks guys. The Jag may be there also but who knows.

The front and rear windows are the model kit spray panted black on the inside. The side windows are plastic from a antifreeze bottle cut to fit.

Looks like this Street Stock will get done in time for the nationals. Over the past few months, I've built a couple of "experimental" cars for my local league where I just go nuts trying a bunch of new (to me) ideas in one car. Several new things going on with this car... so its going into this experimental series as the "X3".

Also, my "X" cars have been really fast so I'm hoping the streak continues /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Sweet look'n car LB! It looks fast like all your X cars and will represent MN proudly I'm sure. Best of luck to you at Nationals.

LightninBoy, that is a good looking car. Hope she runs well for you. If you don't mind me asking, what was the final body/frame weight before assembly?

Thanks Gravity! Keeping the frame weight down was certainly the theme of this particular build. The goal being to be able to add the extra fender/fairing elements without going over the "normal" weight of a car body.

Bottom line, the finished body (meaning everything other than the tungsten, wheels, and axles) weighed 9.5 grams. That includes all the covering, sealing, etc. So mission accomplished. The twist resistance of the body is down a bit from the cars I normally build, but its not bad.

That is the most beautiful SS I have ever seen!

Thanks for the info!

Ok.

Under 10g!

Now that is amazing.

It looks like a PWD car straight outta "Logan's Run"

Good stuff!

Did you use Monokote as the covering?

That's Coverite Microlite - similar to monokote but lighter and just as frustrating to work with. Someone here described monokote as "frustration you can buy by the roll". Very appropriate.

Joe, thank you for the high praise! It is photogenic for sure but in person and up close you can tell it was my first attempt at using an iron on covering (many wrinkles).
