Anyone have expirence with .3 micron film. I have just got some and have had mixed results using a drill press @ 3500 rpm, applying it after the 8000 grit polishing paper (applying it damp with water). At times it has left scratches in one or two lines (not the whole piece but like one line or two). Maybe this has more to do with cleanliness of the work piece or film. Any suggestions? After inspection I'm not sure if I like going beond the 8000.

Thanks pony ex I did not know if I should change rpm or the pressure i am using. I'm sure the point of diminishing return is just about here. I noticed no great improvement from the 8000 to the .3 and the 8k is so much easier to apply.

I had the same experience with a 60,000 grit film. I think the plastic backing caused my scratching. It worked ok for graphite cars, but the oils. I don't use it anymore.

60K grit!!!!

No wonder you are so fast!
