New here, from Minneapolis. I've got a buddy who has helped with a charitable pinewood race and he said they've been thinking about throwing out a 4 figure pot for their race to attract more interest. Anyone heard of such a thing?

What I know is 1 class, 1 race, and a $1,000 first prize. Something smaller for 2nd and 3rd. I've been told race rules will be published mid-September. Proxy/mail-in cars will be accepted. More to follow...

The details are on the street for this race. One class, one race, with a 1st place pay out of 1000 dollars. The race date is February 13th and its being held in Fargo! I looked things over and the race is supporting a great cause and what appears to be an awesome event (pinewood derby & beer!!). Check out Derby for the Vets Adult Pinewood Derby on Facebook. The rules and race entry details can be found at performance-pinewood.com right on the home page. I just ordered two blocks looking to give Momma a four figure Valentines Day surprise :-).. Pete

Thank you for the website address. Fargo? So much for a race in MSP! LOL
Branded block and cars must deliver a full week before the race.
I can live with that!

$59.95/block and an additional $29.95/ car if you want them to send your car back..
So, this amounts to a $90.00 investment per car.
Good thing it is going to the VA.

I emailed them and the 29.95 is only needed if you want them to cover the return shipment charges for your car. If you have prepaid the return shipping they will repackage the car the car and drop it off at the shipper of your choice at no additional charge above the block and race entry. I just going send my cars in with a UPS call tag and avoid thirty bucks. See you on the hill. Pete

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

I spoke with the guys at Performance Pinewood and race entry is fairly slim at this point. What is holding you back? The race supports a great cause and has the potential to be a huge pinewood payday for one skilled & lucky racer. Post up your suggestions or reservations. I can pass them along. Pete
