Algonquin for the"good land". Wayne's World
4 Street Stock do people use five or six cubes side to side behind the rear axle my wheel base is 5 inches wheels are two grams my com is set at three quarters of an inch. Is that good enough? or should the com be more aggressive? I have five cubes acrossed the back.

I have done 4 rows of 6, 2 in front and 2 behind the axle. But my fastest car has 6 rows of 4. 3 rows in front and 3 in rear.

Try the flat tungsten chips (slabs), several sites sell them, plus any store that sells PineCar stuff. Three on top of each other is perfect behind the rear axle. I usually also use six cubes in 2 rows. But we have a Hobby Lobby close by where I can quickly buy the slabs, and personally i don't think there is any difference between the two choices.

My kids last build used 15 (3 rows of 5) behind axle and a total of 7 well in front of the axle. This still yielded pretty aggressive com(less than 1/2") and required a really drastic dfw axle bend and lots of tuning. We went this "stupid" with the build to accomplish the fastest heavy wheel car we could. The rule of this race was to use scout axles, graphite, and heavy wheels. At any rate, the car won his district race, and was by the rule book.

I tested a car the other night with the equivalent of 18 cubes behind. Very interesting!!

Holy Mackarel!!! That is 2.5 oz behind the axle!

I hope I am not asking too much, but what is the COM on that?

Thanks so much!

Has anyone tried the 14 cubes with the 2 slaps ontop of them, all behind the rear axle. With Tungsten putty infront and on top of rear axles. With extend wheel base? And a steer of 6" over 4ft with a 1/2 COM. Very interesting return.

Several racers have tried this. I can think of one car "baby got back". It was no faster than 12 cubes behind the axle.

Busting my nuts again!
Baby got back had a different flaw. I may resurrect that build.

Another racer in this thread had tried it to without good results.

Yeah, but everyone knows that work of art was all mine. Not to mention the clever names. That has Zeebzob written all over it!
