At the beginning of the year I decided I wanted to try and start racing at the league level. I want to give a big thank you and shout out for the JBD Racing Workshop. There is a famous quote that “Knowledge is power.” But with all things associated with pinewood derby, I would change that to “Knowledge is speed,” and this workshop is loaded with knowledge. If you are an amateur that wants to move up and plans on racing league or scouts, then this workshop is for you. The workshop covers all the different things that go into taking a pinewood derby car from the start to race ready and gives a solid base of understanding to go forward from and learn what works best for each particular person/car. There is lots of great information and also videos you can go back and watch that will help guide you in your efforts to find that extra few 0.01 or 0.001 of a second that everyone is after. Benji is also great about helping out all the time when you text him with questions. The fundamentals the workshop teaches can be applied to any class of racing. In league racing this season, I have gone from the middle of the pack to placing in the top 5. My son is in scouts and his final race was this weekend. He took first place in his pack and first place overall in the championship race! It is said that education is the best investment you can make in yourself. Benji is an awesome mentor and I have no doubt that what I have learned from the JDB Workshop was one on the best things I could have ever done to further my growth in and understanding of pinewood derby racing.
