LAlright I thought I would post this to help a few people out that I've been PMing back and forth. Over the next day or two I'm going to try and do a step by step of how I build my cars. Now I'm not going to give out specifics on everything but this will let you see how I build them. I'm building a new SP and a first time BASX car. The builds will be very similar.
First the block of wood. Nothing but the best SSG sugar pine

Next the drilling. I use a Proxxon with a X Y table. These cars are going to be a 5 inch wheel base.
Got to have the hold straight across from each other.

Here's a picture of how they look all drilled correctly. I like to drill my front axle just slightly higher than the rears. I try to get the car to sit level.

Next I get the body ready for shape and weight pockets. The black parts are getting cut out.

Alright don't ask what happened to the BASX! I'll just say this I'm going to have to modify a old car to fit the Basx rules so I can have something on the track. I did however get the SP shaped and weight pocketed. This thing is light!!!

Alright wrapped and weighted.

Next getting the wheels prepared.

That's all for tonight.

Thanks for sharing. That top one in the last pic that I assume is a SP has got me curious. Are you planning on beveling the bottom corner edge on the DFW side?

Hi Joel,
The SP looks so much narrower than the BASX.
Was one of them not 1.75" wide?
Thanks,

OK Joel, I've got to ask.

I've notice a few racers that "dip" the body between the front and rear of the car. What purpose does this serve other than creating a lighter body? Good visual appearance? Raises questions (like this one)? Or is is just something that you like to do?

My own answer to this, because I often do the same:
1. I have to leave enough "meat" for the front axle, but otherwise want the body in front of the rear axle to be as light as possible, but still enough so body won't flex.
2. If you read how an airplane wing "lifts" the rest of the plane. I don't know if our cars go fast enough for the lift effect to work, but theoretically, a flat bottom but a bulge on the top should lighten the front end. Maybe even the back.

I've ran several cars this way for awhile, bounce back and forth between a few different styles. I don't know why I just like the look of this one the most. The car is covered with vinyl and sharpied on the sides.
