That little experiment was a great lesson to a lot of us stuck in a time zone. If a 0.06 jump can take place with a wheel prep we think is reasonable vs. a wheel prep from John ( and it could have been prep plus "X", because the wheels came off his car used in the race, does not matter) it still puts the possibility of speed right there waiting for us to discover what little step we are not doing exactly right. I think the odds for most of us would be we can get the silver bullet axle hole drilling done right, it is the bore prep that is elusive because it is difficult to measure success or failure at each step. A lot of posts on COG, thickness and wheelbase distance might be interesting, but almost all of us will be able to make a reasonably good body. It is the friction in the bore and the friction down the track that is the great separator.

txchemist-- I have come to a similar conclusion on my own cars. This season alone I have built and entered over 16 different cars, with all different wheel bases, shapes, fenders etc. Depending on a few small tweeks. My cars have been fairly consistent. No matter how I built them my prep has been the same... Time to mix it up on the prep process..,
