Angry Birds

Grandson, 11 did about 99% of the work on his new car. Will race in a few weeks.
Many things had to be done to correct some problems ( he cut too much off DFW side, had to move out other F wheel and tweak the back axles so it rolls correctly) but the car is fast.for a Cub ( running newDynasty Rage. and BSA Xtreme Speed Axles on oil)
and he got his "Angry Birds" on it. Should have junked it and started over, but he wants to race it no matter what-

I like it !! it looks great and he got the birds as well, nothing sticks in a kids mind like the good old days, and it seems you have given him one to remember. GOOD JOB !!

Pack race last night- what a blast. A real demolition derby on a poor wood track. Many Fathers and Sons tired of watching our dust the last few years and about 12 out of 25 cars were 3 wheel rail riders with after market wheels and axles.

I overheard two dads say they were sending their cars into a league race so they could see what a good track would do for their cars. All three lanes had bad spots near the finish that would derail a rail-rider. If you had enough speed, your car could still get across the finish line. The hand start on some occasions held up a car or two for a split second- terrible.

The closest race we had was once where our car was left hanging in the start blocks until the other two cars were almost to the bottom of the curve, I was jumping up and down to re-start the race when our car took off. It actually closed and pulled about an inch in front of the other cars to take 1st again.

On good starts we were 2 car lengths ahead of all cars. We derailed on about 3/4ths of our runs, but still flew across the finish line. Other cars derailing at the same spot were going clear off the track to the side.Everyone knew that a lot of luck was in the random jumps and I didn't hear any cries of "cheater" this year. Grandson did win 1st.but no trophy- no medal - no nothing given out. I said if the Pack was too cheap to get trophy's, I would hold a fund raiser for them. No takers. I guess I'll go buy a 1st place trophy and put his name on it- he earned it.

It's on to the District Race where they have Big trophies, and big time competition ( for a Cub)
