Another Thanks to John!

My son and I were super excited to watch the National races and the MA scout races this last weekend. Maybe one year we can come live as it sounds like a lot of fun. I didn't do so hot in the pro races but my son was able to get 2nd place in his age group and 2nd place overall in the scout oil division. 2nd place in age group and overall came at the hands of none other than the great Ballistic! Congrats Ballistic on your sons 2nd year in a row at the top in the scout oil - we have a long ways to go to catch you guys! We were hoping for a top 10 finish so getting second was a surprise and we were extremely happy with the outcome. Thank you to John for putting everything together and for the great products as always. Also big shout out to TRE - Eastman for the fast set of wheels he cut for us to get us even faster this year! Was gonna wait until we got the swag and trophies in the mail and get a pic with my son Weston but decided I couldnt wait to post. Here are some pics of his car forgot to get some pics of the top after the car was all put together. All I can say is fenders are very time consuming!

Thanks B! It was only the second full fender car we have made and I thought the tall fenders would cut tons of time off the build but nope - I was wrong - just as difficult haha. I would love to go to a pro race live one of these times - I hear you learn as much from going to just one live pro race as you can learn in years of proxy racing. Did you end up helping some scouts for this MA race?

I got to assist 5 or 6 different folks, one who picked up 3 100ths and made the finals. Yes.....3 100ths, not 1000ths. Just a few tricks and you can pick up tons of speed. If you ever get the chance, it's worth the trip. MA is great because you can share the hobby with others just starting out, and maybe, they'll league race with us in the future. Of course, I always enjoy racing against DWS, Crane, Mojo, Skippy, Ballistic, D-Boyz, Skywalker, Superfast, TJ, Eastman, etc. - all those folks who consistently beat me (the list is long) but also push me to get better. One day, I'll get to the MOTM race.

There's a story where I thought I slowed a car down by 3 100ths or more where I was fiddling with another's car, specifically, the wheels, with the promise of more speed to a top racer; BUT, I'll let that story be told by another who frequents this board.

Ed & I were both giving this car a good looking over. Very nicely done & the fenders are amazing. It raced well that day, congrats on the finish! You & your boy did a great job. This car is definitely league ready, send it!

But Ed, you DID slow it down! I’m sure of it. Lol! If anyone knows Ed, you know he’s the wheel polishing king. After running my graphite car a few times Ed threw some cash out that he could improve the times...sure I said! Bammm! 3 100s slower, he was on a role!
We were both puzzled that a simple wheel polishing could have gone that wrong.
Well, after some investigating turns out the NDW swelled a bit & was rubbing the track. Not sure how that happened, possibly the Omaha humidity. Personally, I think Ed snuck a few pounds of air in the tire! Anyway, no fault of Ed’s & with a quick wheel change, the car was back in the fast lane. And Ed, well, he’s STILL the wheel polishing king!

Haha nice! I was wondering who he was referring to. I do seem to recall a photo of some wheels he helped with and was finding my wheels to be very lack luster compared to the blinding shine I saw on his. Thats a great story - glad you found what was wrong with it. Never seen a wheel swell up haha. Next time Ed make sure you clean his wheels on the scout oil car ! haha Thanks for the comments on the car - I would love any criticism you have of the way I lined things up or the air shields, way the fenders were shaped or anything you guys saw that we could improve since you got to see it up close - not everyday I get to have two top notch guys look our car over closely. I know the rest of the speed to make up is probably in the wheel prep and drill job but hoping maybe you saw something in the basic build that we can improve on. Did see a couple wiggles in the replay in slow mo. - maybe a touch more steer needed especially on a 6 lane track with some cars throwing air. Also noticed the cars right rear wheel was staged against the rail at the beginning of one heat. surprisingly not the slowest run of the day for us haha. Thanks guys for any advice.
