Hello guys, let me give you some background on us. We have been racing for four years in scouts pinewood derby. We have had better than average success. With two overall pack wins, two overall district wins, second place finishes in races we didn't win. I have won our outlaw race three of four years,(pack and district).

This next year is our last time to race in scouts. I really want to go out with a big win for my son and myself. We will be building my sons car as per rules and regs. But I was thinking of getting some bearing wheel setups for my outlaw car. And also using oil on both cars. As I was told at this years race oil is legal.

My question is, never having used oil or needle axles or bearings. Are these hard to get the hang of? And would it be feasable to use these and expect to gain an increase in performance?

Thanks for advice. And if we use these, get ready for many novice questions.

Bearing wheels are very simple to assemble and your car will be lightning fast right out of the box. They are very stable and require a only a small amount of steer. That being said, the pro bearing class is separated by only a few thousandths of a second from first to worst, so it is extremely difficult to gain those precious milliseconds.
Bearings are run dry, so don't use oil on them.
I would invest in the Goat Boy setup if you are serious about putting the smack down on the competetion.

Thanks for reply. And also advice about no oil on bearings. I had no idea they ran dry.

Also, will I need to cant the rear axles for the bearings? I don't think I need to but not sure. What is measurement of part of the axle that presses into body?

Goatboy products are available from DD4H. Just go to his site and order the complete set up! Have fun winning
