Hello folks.

So our Scouting District is now allowing oil for the Pinewood Derby, which means I need to up my lube game. However, I think I might want to hold off on Jig-a-Loo at this point, due to the fact that it isn't technically legal for sale in the USA(?), and it's kind of hard to get. I'd rather go with a product that I can tell other Scout dads about, and they won't have to jump through hoops.

So, that said, what is almost as good as Jig and easily gettable? I've heard of using Mo-Deck and Infinilube. However, both of these need to be mail-ordered (though, at least you can get them from US distributors!)

Is there anything that's "pretty good" that I can obtain just at my local Lowe's or Home Depot or Ace Hardware?

If there are any previous threads on this topic that pertain, links would be much appreciated!

I thought I had read somewhere the DuPont Chain Saver was similar a similar product, which is available from Lowes, IIRC. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

Someone I know is hoarding all the left over Jig in the USA.
lol

Sweet. And Wal-Mart can just do me a site-to-store. Convenient!

Thanks y'all.

I'm the cat that tested Mo-Deck a couple summers back. It was comparable to Jig in testing and a couple cars the Mo-Deck outperformed the Jig but the margin of difference was so minute that it could've been other factors and probably was, too much noise to say for sure. I will say that the shelf life on Mo-Deck on a lubed car is a long time.

The only way to know for sure is if someone such as Marc, John, Chris or Joel tested it. I'm not quite fast enough too carry this research forward in an effective manner that a Big-Dog would be able to.

That'd be mighty big of you, I'll get a fresh new can in the mail asap-
If it's best to ship to an address other than the address used to ship cars to let me know/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Ever get any results from this testing?

No results yet. I'll get it tested when I can. When I do Corvid will be the first to know and he can decide on what he wants to do with the results. If it's fast I can guarantee that only Corvid will get the process details with the stipulation that he keeps them. I had some other things to test this year and Jig is still the King. I'm at the bottom of my first can after all this time. The superstitions about Jig have proven to all be false. Hot, cold, this can, that can, upright, upside down, shaken, unshaken, laid on it's side, it's all performed the same.

So what you aree saying is all cans of jig are equal
