Billy’s PWD Dumbness has reared it’s head once again. Converting his fastest Awana car to BASX AM. Being drilled with a 2,2mm bit thru usage the .092 AWANA Axles now have a loose fit. His understanding ,which may be incorrect, is BSA axles are around,091 for an even looser fit. Short of building a new car is there a fix for this ? Thanks...... RRR

Some say you can put a drop of water in the axle hole to snug things up a bit. Others use use small strip of paper (or several strips) in the hole followed by a drop of water. Still others use dental floss. You also put a drop of school glue on a tooth pick, use the toothpick to get the glue in the axle hole, and then install the axle. It all works. You could put a shaving of wood (e.g. a tooth pick shaving) in the hole, but that could throw off the alignment; but it works as a last resort. It just depends how loose the fit is.

I ran into the same problem for the cars I submitted for this months race. They ran great for AWANA so I figured I'd submit them with BSA wheels and 93TX axles. They fit really loose* so I used the tiniest dab of maxi-cure which I almost instantly regretted but we will see how they run tonight.

I'm thinking a piece of floss would've been a better option to snug it up.

*Edit: By really loose I mean I was concerned they would slide out some during shipping. Fit was snug enough to tune on the board but probably not run multiple races and stay tune.

Thanks BRR and AJVA.......the holes are loose enough that after post race inspection the gaps had changed. The BSA's I understand are a bit smaller. Sounds like the floss may be the fix without a new build. I had thought cutting the ends off a round tooth pick. smooth flush and redrill as a last resort. bur that's pretty sketchy bc the car was so dialed in. will try the floss and hope for the best....Thanks guys......RR
