Gulfport Ms.
Being born and raised in an area where the median income is $16,807.00 less that the rest of the country, Billy's Momma always said "Son, it's ok to be a red neck but you don't have to be a dumb one". And just like that Billy went on to play football for the great state of Alabama. And that's all Billy's gotta say about that. Billy loves the Grand Prix and the AWANA Program but there seem's to be some conflicting reports about what comes in the kit vs OEM AWANA replacement parts. Being the Woodward and Bernstein sleuth that he is, he went under cover and ordered from the official AWANA replacement parts page to bring you this special report.

He ordered a complete kit #71669 and a 5 pack of extra wheels #16029 and here's what he discovered. The kit had the standard AWANA block, 4 axles and 4 DULL looking smooth inner faced wheels without the little plastic nub. The replacement wheels were SHINNY with the plastic nub.

So he's curious as to what other AWANA builders are experiencing and would like their input. Happy building Y'all.......RRR

Last year the axles had many impurities no pun intended. This year the axles had a very strange finish as in rough but no cracks or anything. Wheels have been getting worse and worse since 2010. This year the wheels were practically junk. So out of round. I don't usually try to round them since they get gummy real fast. However, I used my jewkes block with sandpaper to take off some of the high spots. If I recall, I didn't see any mold numbers this year. Also, the wooden block was a trapazoid from hell with wood that seemed like it was rotten. Very weird grain if any. We, still won though. Been winning the local race for ten years straight. Next year we are done.

Have fun!

Thanks HBR love the name !! We're Red Neck Racing lol. Billy also ordered AC 10 pack of axles they were smooth bright and shinny. We always round our a wheels wth wet medium grit then 1500 them and Novus 2 plastic polish. Congrats on HBR for the win. We landed in the winners circle in Feburatan set a new all time track record. Looks like a good year for us Hillbilles and Red Necks. Lol Guess Momma was right. Would like too see more consistency with our parts supply line. Thanks for the input...RRR

Well, I've heard of Novus. Guy I know owns one locally. I'll have to ask if he can get me some #2. I had to use 220 grit cause the drill press i was using had the rpms set too high and i couldn't risk messing with it cause we were down to the wire. The Block kept it cool. I finished off with some 2000 and 2500 grit while wet then some green diamond pinecar axel polish. Advance auto has nice sample packs of sand paper for like 6 bucks this year. That beats buying each grit separately for 8. Thanks, good luck and MTFBWY...always.

Just some FYI I've found helpful. Wal Mart web site offers a lot of the stuff we all use but not necessarily is a stocking item. BUT they will Order it for you From an outside supplier and you can pick up in your local WM OR have it sent to your door.EXAMPLE a tube of Hob E Lube delivered from WM to my zip code $7.37. No great deal but a way to get that lube if not avalibale to you locally. TRICK: If you do a google search Hob E lube you'll see it OFFERED by WM $3.99 free shipping with 35$ order or more. If you need somemthig for home or what ever you can piggy back the lube and get 3.99 price plus free shipping. Just load you cart until you reach 35$.You can usually get all supplies needed thru that process.

If you take your time you can find offered by WM an assortment of 3M wet dry in a pack of smaller sheets like used on a vibrator sander 3.99. 1000 1500 2000 2500 grit. They also have a 2oz of Novus 2 at a great price. Just do the google searches until you fill you cart with needed items OFFERED thru WM to reach 35$ to qualify for free home shipping. POINTER some times those OFFERED items Free shipping with minimum 35$ ordered sometimes are time sensitive and can foul up you free ahipping. So if you slowly fill your cart over a week or two the offer may be expired. WM will keep you cart items in your cart Inuit you remove item, add to, Will completely remove when ordered. Just log onto the regular WM site on My Cart usually upper right hand and there are all your item but watch bc some items offered may have expired and you not qualify for free ahiipng. Hope this Might help you or a friend. Again Momma was right it's ok to BE a Red Neck but tou don't have to be a Dumd Red Neck m. Keep your nose clean even if it takes both sleeves LOL. And as Billy always say.... don't forget to tip your waitress .......RRR

Hillbilly I meant to send this days ago. Don't over-sand the AWANA axles or use a file. The AWANA axles respond well using wet @ 2000 grit 5 seconds & 2500 @ 10 seconds, then polish, polish polish to a mirrpw finish. Polish bores with novus 2 using swabs #87106 Hobby Lobby pack of 50 cut in half Gives you 100. $3.99 a phone coupon gives you a 40 percent discount for a single item purchase. Seal your wheel bores with the swabs and Quick Wax......Not all are optimal products but are a great get by used by a lot of guys......RRR

Ok, thanks. I'm going to change our process soon so, I'm open to ideas.
Good deal Brother, If you play your cards right thru the Walmart Cart you can sometimes add things you need at home or work and qualify for free shipping to your door. HINT: WM uses various vendors for their supply line. If they don't
carry it, usually they have a supplier that does and will piggy back it with your order. Don't go directly to the WM web site. Goggle or whatever you use and type in what you're looking for. Most of the time you'll see the product "offered by WM" usually at a lower price than the WM site. Click the product and a WM cart page will pop up. Add the product to your cart and WM will store the info in your cart. Later go directly to the WM site all they'll open your cart page. in the upper right hand of the screen you'll see the little my cart logo. Click on that and there's you stuff waiting for you to place the order. You can add or subtract any item at any time. But subtracting could kill your free shipping. Sometimes the offers are time sensitive and prices can change so watch for that.

Do this....Go directly to the WM site and search Hob E Lube and check the price. Then go back to google or whatever and type in Hob E Lube.......you'll see the price difference.......Hope this helps>>>>>>>RRR

Lol...the only thing I don't have from your links is the kwick wax. I never figured out if the mothers was better than the pinecar green diamond paste. Thanks again for the info!

LOL....You've done your homework....Here's some other products the guys use for a bore sealant. I've heard the Rejex is actually Red Rocket but who knows, it is expensive. The Quick Wax is the least expensive option. I recently ordered a 10 pack of axles from AWANA, they looked like the older style which were pretty good. Let me know if I can help you with something else. BUT I'm still in a big learning curve.

Mequires quick wax, lucas slick mist, rejex, turtle wax black ice. You're looking for a synthetic product to act as a sealant.

Here's one I heard good things about too.

Ir you're Mom ever mouthed off to an Officer without taking her home rolled cigarette out of her mouth...you might be a RED Neck.........LOL.......RRR

Goog Luck

Hey cool! I've often wondered about the red wax stuff. I really like DIY and reverse engineering things. With that said, I'm still gonna try some DD4H products next season. This year I burned my money on solid 123 blocks and pin gages. Funny thing is, we got the car done three hours before the race and I never did the checks that I wanted too as in what Lighting Boy shows on YouTube vids.

Here's one I've been saying for a while...you might be a redneck if you use coffee filters for napkins! We never have enough paper towels and napkins. But we love the mud water!
