I was helping my son rebuild his Scout car to enter at NPWDRL when I discovered an issue.

His car is very very narrow due to the design he chose, so we used wheel weights to get as much weight as far back as possible.

Our District doesn't allow cant, so in order to squeeze some more speed out of it, we thought we'd fill the holes with toothpicks/glue and redrill. However, after doing so, the wheels are rubbing on the wheel weights because there isn't enough clearance to account for the cant.

What is the solution to using rear wheel weights with a 3 degree cant? Do you have to shim it somehow?

Use a couple washers to push the hub out a little, more of the wheel weight will be out of the body but it won't rub. You can also grind the weight where it's rubbing unless it's tungsten.

Thanks for the suggestions Mike. Unfortunately, they are tungsten so can't grind (easily at least). Will have to race in Box Stock, so no washers allowed. MoJo texted me a couple good suggestions.

What I'll probably end up doing is meticulously building up CA glue while holding it at the correct angle using the centering tool they came with.
