Our pack has a wood track, what would be the best thing to use to clean it, it's probably never been cleaned and is painted. Thanks!

I see a lot of looks and no response. That might be because there is so many variables as far as condition and type of paint or varnish.

I have used a automotive paint product that is called Pre-cleano. It is a pre paint product used for wax & silicone removal prior to painting. It is less aggressive than enamel reducer and much less aggressive than lacquer thinner.

I would be inclined to try something like that if the paint is intact and there is no exposed wood. It evaporates and leaves no residue much like brake cleaner but is less invasive/aggressive.

Maybe a few pictures of the track and it's condition would help everyone point you in the right direction? Whatever you try, ...try it in a small area that is non critical (such as the stop section) and in a reduced volume and/or concentration before going after the main body of the track.

Good Luck

I'd be tempted to try something like Simple Green and some clean rags before I'd try a solvent based cleaner? That's what I used on our pack's wooden track, but it's polyurethane coated, not painted. Just dampen the rag, not dripping. Not knowing what kind of paint it is would be a concern. TBR gave some good advice about trying anything in a small, non-critical area first. Stop section or underside of the track if it's all painted?
