We were all set to run our derby this weekend, the 15th, Now, with the virus scare in the local schools, it has been postponed until April 25th. What do I need to do with the completed cars until then?

Put them in a ziplock bag and keep them from sitting on their wheels. Our Council race is in two weeks and I suspect the same is going to happen to us.

What will we need to do with the cars prior to racing? We are graphite only. Should I spin the wheels periodically to keep them moving? It will be 7 weeks since I added graphite.

I would follow the advice above ....ziplock, and keep the car from sitting on the wheels. If you have a desiccant bag, I would throw that in the zip lock as well. Graphite does not like moisture. Spin the wheels once or twice before racing.

Good luck with your races!

New rescheduled date is July 25th. Any suggestions on what to do with the car until then?

I’d agree with definitely keeping it in a bag until then. Since you have a lot of time, you probably could add graphite a couple weeks before. Same thing happened to two scouts I’m helping, and we’re re-prepping them a little closer to the race (oil is allowed).
