My oldest son was 1st in Webelos 1 at Districts, never lost a race in rank! He had a lot of fun the whole day and was super happy! He was second in pack at our pack race, lost to little brother.

Younger brother was second in Bears in at Districts, had some close racing! Pack champion and a heck of a fast racer! Bears is our most competitive at Districts!

When they had the District finals with the top 4 racers from each rank we had some tough racing. Oldest son came in fourth and younger brother came in 5th. Second place through Fifth place was extremely close. The first and third place winners were sons of a member here. They had some of the most consistent cars I have ever seen! I will let him tell his story. Overall we had a lot of fun and made some memories!

They look Happy Happy!! Great job guys and very cool looking cars. This sat. is our district race. Hope to have as much luck as you guys did.

We raced on a horrible wooden track for the District race. The starting pegs were made out of a slick plastic and were at a pretty sharp forward angle. They stuck up above the track only about an inch and a half or less. Both of my son's cars slid up the pins, my youngest son's car fell off the track 3 times before they ever started the race. They told me they were going to run it backwards and I said heck no! I took an exacto knife and had to chop up the front of his car to make it rough enough not to slide up the pegs. The stager told me they were going to have to disqualify the car because I made an adjustment after the race started.

I halted the race and got the chairman, he allowed us to race since I never left the track and all I did was remove weight. He is the one that built the track and I think he was embarrassed. He knew it was a default of the track design not the car. One other dad had the same problem and let them run the car backwards. The rest of the day they allowed adjustments to a couple other cars. Before Districts this was our fastest car by about .02, it ran about .02 slower than older brothers car at Districts after they dropped it. This was very traumatizing for my son. It knocked the DFW out of where I had it tuned and I had to just eyeball and guess where I thought the slot had been located.

Since we had the issue in Bears and they knew I had a Webelos 1 they tested older brother's car before the Webelos 1 race. I had to chop up it's front end also. Luckily it never got dropped.

During the championship round with the fastest 4 boys from each rank they gave out trophies to fourth place. Oldest son got fourth and another trophy, little brother got a ribbon. He held it together until the truck and then he cried the whole way home. He bucked up eventually and realized what a good day he had!

I was very polite with all race officials and never raised my voice, but I was glad I was insistent they give the car a fair chance to race. I hope they use a different track next year! It was only the third heat so the race had just started. As the chairman of our pack's PWD I realize how much work goes into a big race. I can't believe they never had problems with the start pins before.

Glad things worked out for your boys. Yep its amazing to me how many old tracks are still used. The second year my boy was in the scouts. We had a fun raiser and bought a new allum. track with lights. I think it was the best thing that has ever happen. Glad to hear your son realized that it was a good time. My sons car got broke into at a council race one year. Due to the stop section.Only 3inch foam with no stop section. Cars where tore up every race. They said they never had that happen. I guess they never had fast cars run on it. Waiting on sat. for our turn to roll the dice.

Oh man Mofast...I know that sickening feeling of having the car fall off and basically the feeling that the day is shot. Glad it worked out.

Picture says it all. Congratulations to your sons and yourself.

Something to think about is these moments and experiences are the ones they will treasure and appreciate now and many years down the road.

Congratulations!!! At least the younger son has many more races in his future. I commend you for keeping your cool despite the horrible conditions. Jeez I thought our district had a lousy setup-not even close.
Anyway way to go!
