So i have novus 2 and graphite and q-tips. Is tje another over the counter product and step needed to prep/polish the bore?

I like tamiya swabs rather than q-tips for polishing the bore. You need to find the right thickness to fit in there.

Novus 2 is a good polish for the bore. Some folks will use a coarser polish ahead of the Novus 2, like Novus 3 or maybe whitening toothpaste. Some folks will also use a finer polish to finish out the bores, like Microgloss.

If you're running oil, you'll need a sealant to provide an oil-phobic surface on the inside of the bore. For this, go to the auto parts store and pick up some synthetic wax (not carnauba). You can also use Max-Pro Heavy Duty Silicone spray, sprayed on a swab, allowed to "air out" for 15-30 seconds and then applied in the bore.

Edit: Just saw that you're running graphite. In this case, I would not use the Max-Pro, though you might still get some benefit from using a synthetic wax product in the bores before you burnish in your graphite.

Which tamiya swap size do you use, and do you just use the stem for polishing the bore or the cotton tip

I use part #87106, which are the triangular swab. Some folks use the round ones of the same size. I don't think it matters too much.

With the Tamiya swabs, you use the cotton part rather than the stem for polishing. I like this because there is far less chance of damaging the bore if you build up too much friction or heat.

I get your choice for applying polish, but it doesn’t seem like you would use this kind to burnish the graphite. Am I wrong?

When I burnish graphite, I use a smooth metal pin a little smaller than the bore diameter to crush the graphite into the bore as a roll it on a semi-soft surface.

A single-piece Pinecar axle works for this.
