I ran a set of Dynasty INTIMID8Rs that I bought in early January in an Scout Adult race. I polished and waxed the bores as shown on the DD4H video, but I just could not get my car to run fast with these wheels on them. I changed to an older set of Dynasty INTIMID8Rs that I bought last July and were polished and waxed the same way and my car was much faster. Do I need to be do something different with my wheel and axle prep or have the newer wheels changed (different molds, different cut)?

Take a look at this thread. It may apply to your situation.

Hogans Racing - Yes I ran the wheels reversed in the rear. I might have to re-prep the new wheels and see if they are any faster.

It just seems like the newer wheels are harder to get to go fast, but my older wheels are for sure much faster than the new ones.

Obsessedderbydad - yes I have the spacers for these wheels from John. I put the large diameter side to the body and the small diameter side to the wheels. I used a business card to set my gaps. The wheels spin nicely and do not rub against the body.

I have been having similar speed problems in the SP class. In fact I think my car may of even finished last at the February race. I've had a few last place finishes lately!

So anyway I did some searching on wheel prep, while I didn't find anything in particular about SP wheels, everything I did find on wheel prep pretty much says to follow the tips in the DD4H video. These wheels are pretty fragile so make sure the wheels are not broken or distorted in anyway.

As for me... Well I stripped my wheels clean and will re-prep them again. Perhaps I can get a badge for the most last place finishes in a season!

Later!

Not if I start racing this class. I'll have a lock on last

Insert spacer, small side towards wheel

Place your gap gauge between inner hub and axle head. Push spacer towards wheel until touching

That's how I do mine, I'm sure everyone has a different way but this should be a good way to start. Hurricane if you start smoking me in SP I expect a helpful hint!
