Dynasty Nitro Mid America Cut Wheel Height...

I'm helping my Scout Council design a set of new rules for Advanced Races. Something closer to Street Stock rules, but I want to keep the rules budget friendly, and still let racers install Mid-America cut wheels on their fender cars to ship out to race at Mid-America. In other words, one car for local races and Mid-America, if that's practical.

So I'm wondering what wheel height Mid-America cut wheels have, and could a BASX wheel sub in the same position without rubbing on the fender.

I'm not sure, maybe it's not practical to do this...

I believe of is close due to both wheels have to keep the ribs in place so most weight is removed from inside on the lighter MA wheels.... But don't quote me as I haven't measured

Its going to come down to wheel height.

The older style wheels (predators) can be cut down to ~ 1.16" and still retain the tread bumps for the BASX class. The newer style, I believe its a bit larger, at 1.17". The MA wheels I have from John (1.2g) are based upon the newer style wheels, and therefore are 1.17", as MA requires all tread markings to be visible.

I know what you mean. I'm in the same process of changing these rules. My pack has rules based on NSC but then races in a district which follows rules found in the box. Rather than have my son build multiple cars, we plan for these rules when building one car.

I have a set of MA wheels with slightly visible tread bumps but measure ~1.152" and placed them on my son's car which was running BASX wheels ~1.17". The wheel gap was horrible. I wouldn't run the car like that. But, you're suggesting to do the opposite....Build a car using MA wheel specs but then sub in BASX wheels. In my case, the wheel diameters are too different to make this won't work. The BASX wheel would rub. Bulldog's video is spot on when recommending building fenders with the wheels you intend to use.

I can say that our rules will be outlawing Predators, only current BSA wheels will be allowed.

as a side note, I was referring to the 2.4 basx pro, which only come in 1 size. john also sells the basx wheel, which comes in two different sizes, 1.17 and the tall version, at 1.18.

I sent my kids cars to MA last year with NSC wheels. At the time I didn't know about the MA style wheels. The NSC wheels are 1.16 and they let them race. Tread bumps barely visible.
