What is the best material to make your fenders out of?

a lot of guys make them from balsa.

pine for me much easier to work with and if you wiegh the balsa and the pine when you are done you will see there is not much difference. Like John once told me they all have to weigh 5 oz.

I use to make mine out of Balsa, they are way to fragile. If you make them out of pine you are much better off.

If you make with balsa make sure you coat with CA glue. That will stiffen them up nicely.

Has anyone had sucess using bass wood?

I make mine out of balsa. I put a good coat of ca glue on them to help stiffen them and seal them for paint.
