Hi Everyone, Thank you for opportunity to share our post with pinewood derby enthusiasts as yourselfs. Today my son, whom is a lion, in his cub scout pack, and I had our first experience with pwd racing. It was a blast. Sharing time together building the car to race day. We learned some lessons. I wish there was more races to go to. We look forward to next year.

Wonder if someone could answer a question. Our district council pwd event is coming up. We didn't place in the top 3, but, it was close I might add. We learned to take advantage of the 5 oz. weight limit next time. So, those that are familiar with how these events work. Can a lion cub scout participate in the open grand prix race? Or is it only open to the tigers, wolves, bears, and webelos? Thx.
Each district and council is deciding on their own how to treat Lion racers. I know my own district did briefly discuss the issue, but no Lions registered for the district race this year.
I believe the Mid-America council has already added a Lions class to their rules. You need to check with your district PWD chairperson....
