It appears that most of the top performing cars are running balsa fenders. What kind of time differences are people seeing between cars running balsa fenders vs. Gee fenders?

Best advice I could give is go to NPWDRL site and study the photos of the cars in SS and see who is running GEE vs Balsa.

My suspicion is that there's not going to be much difference one way vs another.

I have built slow balsa fender cars and very fast ones, I think Gee are a great choice for a new racer, and the speed difference still has yet to be determined, it's close brother.

I ran two cars in Box Stock at MOTM, one with balsa & one with the GEE, both cars finished with the exact same average time down to the forth digit.

I would start with GEE fenders, perfect everything else, and at some point, switch to balsa fenders, but for a scout race building one car a year, GEE fenders all the way.

For quickness and ease of installation, I'd say go for the GEE fenders. These fenders will install a lot quicker than making your own set of fenders from Balsa. Practice making Balsa fenders in the meantime.

Regarding track time differences, there is more to it than just the fenders causing differences in times. It's one of the nuances of building these cars and it can have you pulling your hair out trying to figure it out. Most of all, enjoy the fun, and frustration, you'll have with these pinewood cars.
