Not really! I hate building fenders! So, I salvaged four fenders off of a couple of cars that I no longer need. I am so happy, they came of pretty easily with some patience and an exacto knife. /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif

What did you have them stuck on with? Epoxy?

Rather than make fenders myseflt for my first league car I will be buying some of johns rear fenders. Anyone have input on the Derby evolution fenders? Thinking about getting a set for the front.

Make your own, they aren't that hard! Less than an hour you will be done and have a nice looking set.

+1. The first set of fenders I bought off a vendor and before l sanded them down to fit I traced them out on card stock and used the resulting stencils as templates for future fenders. The balsa I get from Michaels or AC Moore. It shapes super easy since the wood is so soft. Conversely its easy to ding so has to be handled carefully.

Mine are Sugarpine, balsa is to easy to wreck./images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

I've never used basswood and I see it sold alongside the balsa at the craft stores. I know its heavier/denser than balsa but is it lighter than pine?

Bass wood for me it is very easy to work lite.

I have been using balsa and bass wood and they both work good. With balsa you can put a coat of ca glue on them and it helps with dings and breaks. Bass wood works a little better and is still lighter than pine.

All my cars are now covered with MonoKote. To transfer them to a new car is easy. I apply them with SuperGlue, but they tear off easy from the Mono sides. Some are Cherrywood and others are Balsa. Either transfer easy, except sometimes I have to apply a light sanding to the glue spot.
