I have a guide pin from John, and I've never installed one before. Is there any trick to bending the guide pin and is it already the right length? Is there anything I should watch out for when installing it? I see guide pins with what looks like plastic ends or caps on them. Is that something I should be able to pick up locally?

AC,
I drill the hole as a normal axle. I then insert the guild pin in straight. once the guild pin is in up to the taper I bend it with a pair of small needle nose pliers. You can bend it 90 degrees at first ,then put on the track and make your bending adjustments from there. You will get your desired spacing between the track by just rotating the bent needle toward the rear wheel. The little plastic tips you see guys running on the end of the needle is the same retainer you would use for a needle axle to retain a wheel. Some guys custom make them on their lathes,, but the plastic retainer is not necessity. hope this helped..

John also has the small plastic ends. They are the same as the "hubs" used on the old Super Mod class, which ran on wheels with brass inserts.
You can also use a piece of the small tubing that we currently use on the Unlimited axles. We just cut off a small piece and insert it on the pin.

Bending = I just use my fingers or a small needle nose plier.

Thanks to SoGone and OPARENNEN for your help. I'm getting ready to ship in my Street Pro car for the coming race which will be my first time. I do have another question which is used when the rear wheels are reversed. Looking at the spacer there is a collar on it. I also got these from John, does the collar go in the hub of the wheel or towards the body.

I'm sure at some point the learning curve will start to go down, but at this point it is fairly steep. I have to say everyone has been great helping me and I appreciate
it.

Try it both ways and see what way is faster for you and your car. I run mine with the flat side toward the wheel.

Hi fellas,

Can the guide pin be anywhere along the car for SP?

Thanks,
Joe

Thanks Chris,

I am thinking of pushing it all the way up towards the nose.

Any thoughts?

Thanks again,
Joe
