Guide pins

Just a quick note on guide pins. Be very careful when using the stainless guide pins. The first Jewkes version was a .030 and would break off very easily after bent a few times leaving it nearly impossible to get out. I made mine .040 and I have not had one break since. When buying or making your own make sure to keep away from the smaller diameter. I ruined one of my best cars with the .030.

This was my thought after reading the post but didn't know how to put it into words that would make sense. I guess my concern was knowing where the end of the pin was in the car and where to drill. But I guess if you had another pin/axle that calculation wouldn't be that tough to find a drill location.

Drill a small hole on the underside of the car right where you think the end of the guide pin is and push it out till you can grab ahold of it. Fill the bottom hole with light wood putty and put in a new pin.

They keep cars from going off the track when you are only running 3 shells like the unlimited, eliminator or street pro class cars. They take the place of the fourth wheel.

Hi fellas,

Can the guide pin be as far forward or back on the car as you want for SP?

Thanks,
