I'm very humbled right now. I had a dang great weekend. I got to drive 24 hours total with my Dad, aka my best friend and my middle son. We had a blast! My son had never been to Temple Square in SLC, so I took us there. We loved it and tried to take it all in. All the while the race the next day was getting closer. I am of the personality much like many others here, I'm very competitive and I'm willing to work hard. I have been racing myself for 3 years but only had the guts to join NPWDRL this season. I missed out a ton because I sat on the sidelines. I'm so very glad that we were able to attend Mid Americas this year. I learned a ton about our sport and met some damn fine men. We have been happy so far with the experiences and time spent but I was not satisfied. I watched a Documentary a few months back about professional body builders. Yes they take many enhancers and steroids, but I was in awe at there work ethic. It brought me back to the summer training camps while I played ball in college. They were the very hardest physical weeks of my life. But I learned many very valuable lessons. I learned that I would always be fighting if I wanted a starting position. I learned that many guys will make excuses to justify loss. I learned that "winners train, and losers complain", (DD4H). I learned to be coach-able. I learned that I thought I was good in high school but 99% of that would not cut it at the next level. I learned that planning and study will pay off if spent in the correct truths of the task at hand. As I watched this documentary I made a decision to apply this to Bulldog Racing. I set out a block of time each day to Train.
I devoured this forum. I read with an open mind and try and putt pieces together. I thank all those who putt gems of info here for us to pluck up and polish for ourselves. I read a post from Kinser racing about how he has offered at times to help and guys rarely have asked. I raised my hand and asked him for help. I needed a coach. I'm not a real smart guy but I can learn. I would have never learned 99% of this info with out the tools we have all been given starting with The DVD. Kinser quickly explained that he would "guide me" to my own findings, or teach me how to fish, not give me a fish. This is what I was looking for. I believe that if we ask we will receive. It's truly not in my make up to take things lightly, if I'm going to do something it's going to be all or nothing. Kinser spent a lot of time on many different occasions guiding me to a more sound build, to learn how to test, to keep it simple, not to change too much at once. He reminded me of many coaches I have worked with. I have gotten his permission to tell this story and I give much of the credit of this last race to him. Thank you Kinser for your help. Mr. Chips and I have become friends and I will probably piss him off by saying this but he is a hell of a nice guy and don't let him fool you. He is a freaking teddy bear! I also want to thank B-Regal for being my friend and helping me learn where to putt my rear wheels and what a real PWD car should look like. I thought I knew how to race until I came here. I feel thankful to those who have helped me of who I have not mentioned. I was truly hoping to make the first page in the BASX class, and the Street Stock, this race was so much more then expected. This leads to my last point. As I was shocked at my results and star struck at the names of the racers I was going heads up with in the finals I could not wipe the stupid grin off my fat face. I asked DD4H if I should re-prep my cars or just let em run next race. His response is the reason he is a champ. he replied, "You didn't win." He followed up saying, " Get rid of that thought process now. Go for the win, settle for nothing shy." Thank you John for the world class products you make. Thanks to the racers who were live for being so nice to my family. Let em run, dude was awesome for his first race! Congrats to bullet on the wins, you live up to your race name. Skippy is one of the nicest guys you could meet. Thank you for your hospitality. I will be building my next car as soon as I close this post. I made a short clip of our trip. Remember, Winners train, Losers complain! Bulldog racing-

Awesome job at the race and on the video Bulldog!

Chris is a super nice guy and a hard competitor. Glad he's here!

Bulldog, it was great meeting you, your dad and son. Great job, your attitude and enthusiasm are inspiring. You should start a motivational speaking tour. Thanks to Skippy, Kinser, and DD4H for hosting and for the encouraging words and help. It was a wonderful first race for me and my son and I will certainly being doing it again. My wife even enjoyed it and thought the fender cars looked nice. Guess I know what I will be building next. It also helped that she found a restaurant nearby that she really liked. So congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all who help promote and encourage in this wonderful hobby.

NPWDRL is the premier league because of the people that race in it. I haven't meet anybody in person and I haven't talked to anybody besides John on the phone, but yet I still feel a sense of camaraderie. As long as people like Kinser, Bulldog, QT, Mr. Chips, Opa, Skippy, John, etc. (this list could get pretty long and I know I'd forget somebody so I'll just throw in an etc. here) are on the forum giving help, at the races showing support, and just generally not causing drama; this sport is going to continue to grow and NPWDRL will always be the premier league.

Also, great job at the race Bulldog! Keep this up and you're even going to have Bullet getting nervous at the sound of your name. Hahaha! /images/boards/smilies/wink.gif

Great job Bulldog! Looks like all those blank blocks helped you nail the perfect drill. Kudos on picking up speed big time, getting into the finals and running with the big dogs! Watch out Bullet we got a Bulldog on the loose!

I see a lot of things going on here with Bulldog that I think explains his success...

1) Incredible passion and enthusiasm for the hobby. When you have this, you absorb everything around you. You pick up little things that may otherwise be missed.

2) Outgoing and friendly personality. Bulldog is making friends, and people are going to be very willing to lend a hand and maybe give up a couple of secrets.

3) Work ethic. From everything I've seen, this dude is a machine! Combined with his passion and help from new found friends, Bulldog is gonna work at it and work at it til he gets it right.

4) Positive attitude. No explanation needed here.

My biggest wish is that we get a couple new guys just like Bulldog every year. This hobby would skyrocket!
I couldn't be happier to see Bulldog have a great showing like he did this weekend. Keep it going, brother!

You nailed it!

Bulldog, your inspiring me to get back in the shop and get something together for next month. I've been extremely busy and putting my shop time on the back burner, but your enthusiasm is rubbing off! Thanks

I must be a complete introvert with a horrible work ethic wasting over 3K in parts alone from John, not including items/equipment that John doesn't sell. I'm not asking for any special attention or a pat on the back, but we should be careful on who is believed not to be be supportive of this hobby. There are things some of us can not do...

Take nothing away from Bulldog (I do admire his enthusiasm and resolve), but I am positive there are others here are putting the same effort forth.

The surest path to success is to try one more time.
