I'm very humbled right now. I had a dang great weekend. I got to drive 24 hours total with my Dad, aka my best friend and my middle son. We had a blast! My son had never been to Temple Square in SLC, so I took us there. We loved it and tried to take it all in. All the while the race the next day was getting closer. I am of the personality much like many others here, I'm very competitive and I'm willing to work hard. I have been racing myself for 3 years but only had the guts to join NPWDRL this season. I missed out a ton because I sat on the sidelines. I'm so very glad that we were able to attend Mid Americas this year. I learned a ton about our sport and met some damn fine men. We have been happy so far with the experiences and time spent but I was not satisfied. I watched a Documentary a few months back about professional body builders. Yes they take many enhancers and steroids, but I was in awe at there work ethic. It brought me back to the summer training camps while I played ball in college. They were the very hardest physical weeks of my life. But I learned many very valuable lessons. I learned that I would always be fighting if I wanted a starting position. I learned that many guys will make excuses to justify loss. I learned that "winners train, and losers complain", (DD4H). I learned to be coach-able. I learned that I thought I was good in high school but 99% of that would not cut it at the next level. I learned that planning and study will pay off if spent in the correct truths of the task at hand. As I watched this documentary I made a decision to apply this to Bulldog Racing. I set out a block of time each day to Train.
I devoured this forum. I read with an open mind and try and putt pieces together. I thank all those who putt gems of info here for us to pluck up and polish for ourselves. I read a post from Kinser racing about how he has offered at times to help and guys rarely have asked. I raised my hand and asked him for help. I needed a coach. I'm not a real smart guy but I can learn. I would have never learned 99% of this info with out the tools we have all been given starting with The DVD. Kinser quickly explained that he would "guide me" to my own findings, or teach me how to fish, not give me a fish. This is what I was looking for. I believe that if we ask we will receive. It's truly not in my make up to take things lightly, if I'm going to do something it's going to be all or nothing. Kinser spent a lot of time on many different occasions guiding me to a more sound build, to learn how to test, to keep it simple, not to change too much at once. He reminded me of many coaches I have worked with. I have gotten his permission to tell this story and I give much of the credit of this last race to him. Thank you Kinser for your help. Mr. Chips and I have become friends and I will probably piss him off by saying this but he is a hell of a nice guy and don't let him fool you. He is a freaking teddy bear! I also want to thank B-Regal for being my friend and helping me learn where to putt my rear wheels and what a real PWD car should look like. I thought I knew how to race until I came here. I feel thankful to those who have helped me of who I have not mentioned. I was truly hoping to make the first page in the BASX class, and the Street Stock, this race was so much more then expected. This leads to my last point. As I was shocked at my results and star struck at the names of the racers I was going heads up with in the finals I could not wipe the stupid grin off my fat face. I asked DD4H if I should re-prep my cars or just let em run next race. His response is the reason he is a champ. he replied, "You didn't win." He followed up saying, " Get rid of that thought process now. Go for the win, settle for nothing shy." Thank you John for the world class products you make. Thanks to the racers who were live for being so nice to my family. Let em run, dude was awesome for his first race! Congrats to bullet on the wins, you live up to your race name. Skippy is one of the nicest guys you could meet. Thank you for your hospitality. I will be building my next car as soon as I close this post. I made a short clip of our trip. Remember, Winners train, Losers complain! Bulldog racing-
