I hope that everyone is doing well. I wanted to thank everyone for all of their information they have provided. I have been visiting here for the last two scout racing seasons and I have been pleased with our results.

Oldest son: undefeated pack champion three years in a row; 9, 8, and his last upcoming district race because he aged out as an AoL scout and is a boy scout now. He also placed 14 at council at an outdoor racing with a lightning storm coming. That was fun.
Middle son: 3, 8, and 2; 29, 42, and upcoming district. Last year at districts his car was running top 4 and he did not align his car up properly and hit the center rail causing the car to no longer be aligned. His last two runs were 1 sec slower. Murphy always seems to find him and this is why you should always do your best.

Daughter: 3 year undefeated family champion
Youngest son: 3, 3, 2

My middle son has two more years of scout racing and my youngest will be a Lion Scout next year so my best track will get plenty of use for the next 6 years. Maybe I will have a clue by then but I doubt it.

I am thinking of sending cars in by proxy so I can see what else I can learn this year as well but am unsure of which class I should enter.

Again thanks everyone and good luck.

Hey Bubblegum,

Welcome to the crazy hobby all of love so much.

If you race proxy, you will have a blast, I promise! One thing to remember, is race yourself. By that I mean race against times you have. If you do this, you will be able to conquer the field in no time. :)

Set goals for yourself, and make them realistic.

You have been reading in here for a couple years, and that is great! Keep reading and keep trying new things with your builds. You will find that there are things that will really speed you up, and there are things that will not really work out for you. The idea though is to keep playing.

One thing I do with all of the scouts I help is have them bring their old cars from the previous year in. Then we run it first on the track. Once they see that car run, we run the car they just built and see what the difference is. The amount they can learn in one year is amazing. It will be the same for you as well. Just watch.

Most of all.... Good luck and have fun !

Thank you for the welcome and the advice.

I would use the race for just myself so we could get better for next year. I will only have one scout car running then and am interested in learning about fenders. I did not try this year because of the learning curve.

We keep all of our cars and I run them with the current year; kind of a family derby at home. I build 6 to 8 cars a year (Not many by some standards) and can see what works for us. I even ran my scout cars from 35 years ago just for fun. Even though those won pack back then they were about 1 sec slower than these.

I have a standard car that I compare the others to because in the 50 plus runs without any care has only slowed down around 0.01 s and sometimes speeds up for some reason.

This has made me question a few things about graphite.
