We had our district race this weekend. We won! Thanks to everyone that gave me advice! DD4H's products and the 5 kids manual worked great. My son did a majority of the work so I'm super proud of him.
Although we won the race we weren't the fastest car there though which fuels my quest to make a faster car. A good friend of mine raced in the adult open class and beat us by .0045...that's another story though. What I want to get an opinion on is something else that happened. There was one car that raced in our pack race that wasn't even competitive. Well he shows up at the district race and we only beat him by a total of .002. His car improved by .124 in one week. It was the same car as he raced in the pack. I know the dad of the scout and he doesn't know much about it all. He was actually putting the wheels on the car in the prep area before the race. So I don't see how he made up that much time. I didn't look at any of the cars and I do that on purpose. I don't want to be the dad pointing out that the officials missed something. For the record our officials wouldn't know a violation if they saw one. I'm not saying a word though because I don't want a kid to get DQed. It happened to me when I was a kid and I still want to punch the nosy dad that got me DQed.
Our rules prohibit any aftermarket axles or wheels and any wheel modifications. So ours are stock. I'm thinking that this dad must have got a set of wheels and axles to make up that much time. If he did I'm sure it was an honest mistake. This guy wouldn't break a rule on purpose, he just doesn't know them.....another reason to not say anything. Plus I believe you should be able to do what you want to do to make your car faster. Forget a bunch of rules. I know the rules though so I'm going to follow them. With all that said I'm glad the kid got a trophy and I'm not complaining. If he would have beat us we wouldn't have said a word either. I'm just trying to figure out what happened. The only thing that does bother me is that they used the same car as last year. It didn't place then either...more reason to wonder. What do you guys think?
