This year will be our packs first year racing with Grand Prix Race Manager Software. We are going to race by time. How many heats do most packs with about 27 racers run? Our old method was brackets and it would take our leader 3hrs to run the race,kids staged and retreived their own cars. We would like to cut that time in half.

I run the same software with around 60 kids on a 6 lane Best Track. With the leaders staging the cars and each car running once in each lane for a total of 60 heats and then a 15 car/15 heat grand finals it takes probably 1-1/2 hours.

Generally speaking, you run as many heats as there are cars. Or number of lanes, whichever is greater. 3 cars on four lanes, four heats (each car runs each lane once). 5 cars on four lanes, five heats.
Using adults to stage the cars, we ran an average of slightly less than 2 minutes between heats. Add in lunch, between heat drama, and a Grand Finals, and we ran 51 cars through 7 classes in 3 hours total.
