Does anyone have any ideas on improving the stop section on an old scout track. It's too short and the cars slam into the end. Last year they tried to put a piece of foam at the end, but the cars just slid under it and then smashed. Putting some pillows or other cloth can shed threads on the axles and wheels. I was thinking of suggesting putting some packing peanuts loosely in a plastic bag and taping it down at the end of the track.

Anyone tried anything else?

Can you improve the stop section surface? A few years back our pack had the same problem. The cars would either continue onto the floor or get flipped into the air. 2 years of this and I finally fixed it with foam weather strip tape the same width as the rails and slightly elevating the end of the stop section. Coincidentaly that was the first year my son won district. If the surface is ok then you can make a simple stop section extender with some plywood and lath from the harware store. Another thing to do is glue a strip of maybe 400 grit sandpaper on the bottom of your car between the rear wheels if rules allow. If this issue isnt addressed the cars that advance to district will be at a disadvantage compared to cars from packs with good tracks.
