Hello I am new to The forums and this pinewood derby world "kind of". I grew up in Cub Scouts with pinewood derby but I never knew the depth of this world. I've started again because my kids are now in Cub Scouts. Our pack rented a track from a guy that charged way too much and the track was horrible. An old wooden track that he's been using for 15 years. And with my 3 boys I know I have seven more years of pinewood derby at least. So being the addictive personality that I have. I bought a track that supposed to show up on Friday, a 4 lane besttrack. My question is any advice on set up for the first time, I have watched lots of videos on how to but is there anything that the videos don't cover? Second question is I live in Southeast Alabama are there any events/meets/leagues anywhere local to me. The big cities close to me are Montgomery Panama City Florida and Tallahassee Florida. I would like to come and watch and probably get involved quickly I know I won't be running with the big boys at first but they may need to watch their rearview mirrors. LoL. Would also like to thank everyone on the form so far I have learned a lot and I am ready for our next pack Derby.
