Is one better than the other - front end

Hello to All of you Wayward souls (haha),
I'm wondering if there is a preference for either of these types of front end if rules permit:

Thank you to all of You Happy People

Im very new here and zero pro races under my belt at this time so take this oppinion with a grain of salt. Option one will give a very slight starting gate advantage and option 2 is slightly better aerodynamicly since the airflow will be compressed less on top of the body vs between the body and guide strip so the preference is whichever gives better test times (if thats an option)

Ground-effects anyone? (dang 5 cent piece of wood)

And therein lies the dilemma for me, no test facility at this time. I'm hoping someone from the collective will have observed an advantage of one over the other. I know some pack rules don't allow option #1 because of some perceived starting gate advantage, but is it real and worthwhile?

I have seen an advantage if the pin bump is high enough...but on a 1/4 " wedge? I couldnt say...but honestly i believe ( my oppinion)... a well preped car will be faster than one thats not

With a spring loaded start, so called "quick-start" front ends lose all effectiveness. There is a mild benefit when a manual start gate is used, but usually to get a real jump the front end needs to be quite a bit higher.

The aerodynamic differences are going to be minuscule. Go with the one that you like the look of best.

I've run cars both ways and varying degrees between. On a 1/4" car, the difference is pretty minimal. I do like a touch of up sweep on the nose to keep it from digging into the stop section foam.
Hey Brian, that’s interesting to hear. Are you currently running any upsweep on any of you fat wheel fleet ATM? If so would love a pic when ever you have time. That does make total sense. Stop sections are great but boy does it cause interesting things to happen to a car sometimes.

Yeah, we don't want to go all "Flippin Jimmy" in the stop section. Not everyone can do cartwheels and go on to win a National Championship!

I do have a couple FWL cars that have a touch of upsweep on the nose. Like I said, it is pretty minimal, just enough to keep the nose from digging in to the foam rubber stop section. Sorry, I don't have any photos that would illustrate the degree.
