IT'S NOT THE CAR!!! IT'S THE TRACK!!!

Just have to relay this story. My son had his pack race this past Saturday. His car would jump repeatedly at the junctions where the track sections come together. Sometimes, the car would jump the rail, causing a pile up at the end of the track past the finish line. Other cars would jump as well but not as bad. The told the scoutmaster that there was a problem with the track. He insisted that the problem was with my son’s car, which really made my blood boil!! In the end, my son hoisted the pack championship trophy in spite of all of the adversity.

When the race was over and the track was disassembled, I noticed that the little metal dowels/pins that go into the ends of the track sections and aligned the track were NEVER PUT IN!!!! I brought this to the attention of the scoutmaster while trying to keep my composure. You can imagine the look on his face when he realized his error.

So, here’s another feather in the cap for DD4H products. Not only are they the best on the market, but they are now proven tough as nails as well. How my son’s car made it through the race in one piece while taking that physical abuse, I’ll never know. It certainly now has some bumps, bruises, scratches and dents but the damage is not bad enough to prevent him from looking ahead to the district race in a couple of months. His car is still wicked fast!!

Thanks John and everyone else for your helpful tips and guidance.

OH, one more thing. One of the scout leaders who thought he knew it all told me that the problem was with our design. I thought, this guy obviously doesn't know about DD4H and the plethora of professional racers I have in my corner!!

Way To Go Guys

That is really cool to hear your boy still came home with the trophy and his car.. Sad to hear that they did not care enough to at least look at the track....

Just to let you know My son is done with cubs and is now a Scout/tenderfoot
we will be helping next monday with Pack 377 pinewood derby

We are in southeastern PA. Live in Levittown. I think we are in the Pennsbury scout district. At least that's what it says for the district race.

My son didn't want to make anything like a shark, batmobile, etc. Last year he made a police car with working lights. It was really cool looking, turned a lot of heads and did well enough to take 3rd at districts for webelos. But this year he just wanted speed. Thin to win, as the motto goes. Speed is what he wanted and, boy, did he ever get it!!!

It is metallic red with white stripe down the middle. There is a picture of it at the bottom of the "Showroom Finish Paint" post in General Discussion but without the wheels.

BTW, was just wondering......silly thought.....but how many pack and district championships have been won by incorporating DD4H products and speed tips? HHHhhhhhhmmmmmm...............
