It took 26 builds

Out of the last 26 cars I've built I'm happy with 6. It just reminds me of what the great competitors say.

“Success is most often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable.”

“Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.”

“Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.” - Denis Waitley

I can only dream of having enough time to build that many cars. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Out of curiosity, did you ever perform a slow roll with each body or get them weighted? I have a similar "pile", but, I did not make it in a month. With each car, I do follow through with the whole process, so I can evaluate each. Of course, I have had some that were not worthy of a slow roll test. I'm just curious what made a body not worthy of testing?

B-Regal, I have done slow roll every step of the way and when the wheels stopped migrating to the outside the car was putt in the no go pile. I was trying weight pockets before drill and after drill. I was adjusting my method of the silver bullet and my fence set up, I was getting very frustrated because my drills were consistently off. I was using a block on clamped to the top of my weight pocket and this helped a lot with the drill. My body was flexing at the rear weight pocket because the clamp was too tight. The drill was o.k but I'm looking for the rears to migrate quickly and consistently, forward and reverse. I learned how to drill with the bullet. I'm sure others may get this technique quickly but I feel much more confident. I am giving up a little weight loss for more stability. I'm running a 4 3/4 wheel base, this seems to be stable. I'm curious to know what wheel base others are running? It seems the fast cars all have different wheel bases. I had wiggles last race, when I tested on my track no wiggles so I will add some steer this month in hopes to lose some wiggle. The more I build the more I learn. Any of the no go cars would be fine in cub scout race except for a few but for NPWDRL only the best! I think I'll give the bodies to cubs as an option for dads who don't have tools.

I have been saving every reject I've built but never finished, the pile is in the 100's. It's like a history lesson. I can go back and look at the date I wrote on the car and see where I went wrong. Take notes and it will help solve the mysteries. And the pros here help when you have no where to turn, thanks guys!

Dang! Someone's been B-U-S-Y ! I thought I was doing well but MAN you're cranking them out !

Do we have another car builder/factory on our hands here? Looks like someone may have a competitor.... /images/boards/smilies/wave.gif
