Lifted 4th wheel

How do I correct a lifted 4th wheel? I used the Block and use DD4H's settings to the front and back. The fronts were drilled level and you can sight through the hole. Somehow I managed to have a lifted 4th wheel. Our rules do not allow that. Since it is in the front, should I use a slightly thicker wheel on right side and since the left is DFW? My thought here is to thin the DFW down and just true the right hand wheel. Or not worry about it until after I put the toe and camber in?
I really do not want to bend an axle.

The wheel is lifted enough that I can see it clearing the track.

You might try applying gentle torque to the body to bring the front wheel down...

Do your rules require that the wheels are flat to the track? If not, I'd read recently that someone used paper to shim the axle up or down -- I haven't tried, so don't know exactly how one would do it ). You can fill and re-drill. Or, you could bend the axle... /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

If you don't want to re drill then take as much posi cant bend out of the frt axle. Just bend it enough to get your correct steer and that should put the other wheel back in slight contact. For me I would make that non dominate frt wheel touch as little as possible!

Perhaps redrill slightly fore or aft of the current position if your design allows.
Unless your rules state that the wheels must be directly across from each other.

Right now, the axles are all straight. I am getting ready to bend the steering axle. I drilled this car to be a Rail Runner. I noticed this with stock wheels that have not been trued. No, I do not have to run them 4 flat, but I have to have all 4 wheels rolling at the same time per the rules. So the backs are canted ala The Block and the fronts are straight. That is why I am perplexed about the lifted wheel.

Does the bent axle drop the body down? I thought it lifted it.

Thoughts?

Nope, they are 91SGAs. Our rules prohibit cutting the slot on the head, more's the pity. I need to measure those wheels with a caliper and figure if that other front one is larger. I suspect it is.

How thick is the body? I have seen the real thin bodies twist after painting. I would bend my steer side axle and install that wheel and axle then bend the other and adjust until it just barley touches. You have to do the DFW first as the cant will raise the front a little more.

Kinser:

Yes, I can slide the axles in with relative ease. I drilled them for the .091 axles before going to the .093 axles.

DD4H mirrors what you are saying. I tested both cars and both have the same issue, but on different sides. My son's is on the correct side which is cool. 3/8" thick on mine and 1/2" with fenders for his.

He just got done doing the axle polish. Started at 1000, ended at 60,000, then polished. After his were done, I did mine and the wife's. What can I say? Woodstock is going to go fast!

Thanks for all the help guys! I think I have an action plan now.
