Indian princess PWD derby comps allow 11 inch long cars and a max weight of 12oz.
Would it be true that a car would still be best off not weighing over 7oz?
I believe I remember hearing tests and equations indicating weight over 7 oz. does not help a car.
Any thoughts on the optimal weight to plan for?

It looks like the weight thing may be dependent on what you are using for lube.

Graphite: Max weight ~6.5 oz.

Oil: Weight limited only to the ability of the wheels and axles to support it.

Kinser,
I looked over some other posts. "how much weight is too much" by Oxford.
I seems like multiple people think if your on typical/standard BSA wheels 7oz. is the sweet spot and slightly more if on bearings. The competition I reference is on typical BSA wheels.
Is there a thread I should read from 5 kids?

Before I tried it myself I heard multiple racers say there was a maximum weight.... I never saw any proof other than people saying it... Maybe somebody just said 7 ounces or 9 ounces and everybody else just jumped on the bandwagon and kept repeating the bad info... maybe it was for graphite cars... don't know... I know for a good builder, on oil, you can go heavier...
