Mid America Derby - 2012 - Details

You might want to consider allowing oil for your youth divisions in the future. We would have driven up from Kansas City, but we do not want to add graphite to our already oil prepped youth cars. Our Pack and District allows oil, so we have never used graphite. We always have to stip our cars after our Pack race because many still use the graphite. We have to use a microscope to make sure we get all the graphite off the wheels and axles. We may send up my sons cars just to run in the pro class for fun. They will not be able to compete but it is still fun to watch the feed on the net. All six of their cars ran 3.001 to 3.020 at Cabin Fever, pretty good for youth race but middle of the Pack in the Pro division. Plus the graphite is tough on the cars that you will allow to run oil with. You may not get a lot of pro's because they do not want to expose their cars to the graphite plus it is hard to keep the track clean. Many of the pro tracks do not even allow graphite any more.

The Pro Class race is going to be held after the Scouts and Open Classes (all graphite classes). We will then clean the track before running the Pro Division. It won't be perfect, but I don't think there will be much loose graphite floating around. The risk of graphite contaminating a wheel bore will be minimal.

If you think you or your scout have a fast car enter to see how well it stacks up against the rest of the country... Proxy Entries are accepted. Event will be broadcast live - Enter Scout Division, Open Kids, Open Adult... or the Pro-Division. - Rules and details can be found on the website.

And thanks to awesome Sponsors like John...

Check out the prizes that are going to be available to the entrants of this years Mid America Pinewood Derby... and this isn't even all of them...

In regards to tuning on the Track - the answer on that is simple - NO!!! We will be setting up the Track this evening... getting it leveled... and perfectly prepped - we may run some cars down it to test things -- but Not Those Racing. It keeps an even playing field that way.
