Ok,

1. First off, hats off to Greg Dawes for putting on an unbelievable race. When a man goes out to push that many trophies to that many kids!!! What an unbelievable coordinator!!!! (my 5 year old got a trophy for 7th place and was tearing up hoping to get one)

2. Pack, that is one hard working pack, Food, tables, chairs, setup and cleanup, one guy wrote code to display race results on multiple laptops! There was like 5 screens projecting Race Results (10' screens or bigger)!!

3. Races 460 heats, 355 cars with only 8 or 9 redos on the three tracks! WOW!

4. Door prices, non stop!! I mean non stop! there was a man walking around with a dry erase board with 6 sets of numbers and he would walk in the other rooms to make sure everyone seen them!

5. Lego Room and Track, what a way to keep your kids busy!! The track was roped off, the kids would hand a car to people from Lowes and they would run it down the track for you!! My kids where in there for hours and came home and played with legos the rest of the night!

6. Star wars guys and Mascots walking around!

7. Live Video Feed, I haven't received much feed back yet but we have 7 hrs of Video per track!. I know some would drop but then I think it stabilized? Track 2 had the touchiest zoom and the Pro track was by a complete wall of windows (I'll see if I can darken it) (not bad for never streaming before, volunteer camera people and loaned equipment)
(I'm going over the video now and I'll see when I can get it together, and I haven't done video in 10 years!) Oh and we got the Mic plugged into Track 1!!
Thanks to Josh (DerbyChip), my Dad and my sister for running the cameras.

8. Claas had a conference room, almost like a small sunken video/presentation room with like 50 seats. I walked in and connected my laptop and put the cub scout race on the overhead.

Whewwwww, man my shoulders hurt the pressure was intense! I got 6 cars together though.

We pulled:
1. 3rd in qualified tiger (batman)
2. 1st in Tiger Scout Oil (spiderman)
3. 3rd in open adult (Mom's Car) I made her go up and get the trophy! hehehe
4. 7th open kids (the Mystery Machine)
5. black Ice is still running somewhere! (Pro Stock class) lol
6. Corporate Car (built one for Gregg Young Chevrolet) I'll post a pick later if I haven't already!

Thanks Iceman for the inside scoop and congratulations to you and your family! I only had time to watch a little bit of the live stream but from what I saw the video was 1000 times better than last year. Big THANK YOU to Greg Dawes and crew for putting on what sounds to be the pinewood derby event of the year!! Great job guys!!! /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Thanks to Gregg, the committee and everyone who volunteered there valuable time to make this event happen. I would like to apologize to any pro racers watching from home, as i was the one who was attempting to run the video. First time giving that a shot and i know i was sketchy at times and there was a issue with glare on the screen shot of the results.

My son was entered into the scout open graphite, before finding this forum we would run in the 3.1s and thought we were doing well, lol now we have learned so much and built this car we ran at ma, first run 2.9989 then it fell off some for next two heats and came back under 3 for final three runs only to average a best 5 from 6 of 3.0001!!!!!!!! supper excited as our goal was to get real close to sub 3
i know there is room to go yet cuz we had 2.5 gram wheels and i know there is allot more i can do on the prep side Thanks to everyone here for there advice, and thanks to ICEMAN (Shawn) who has helped more than i think he knows

Yes, awesome race and tons of fun. I signed in with my scout login of Noskills. Given my performance I think I might need touse that for all logins /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif
We had 5 cars. All got crushed except my son's pack car from this year. Pulled off 4th bear in the graphite scout and 11th overall. Her was pretty happy. Only stock wheelbase car there and only one of 3 in the finals without fenders. I know tracks are different but he tied his pack times which surpised me as the pack required stock wheels and axels and we went with Johns best for this race. This am my novice race have been humbling. Thus my new avatar!

Dr T. I need that avatar too. Maybe we can share it Depends on each race we have. Congrats to you and family on the stock wheels being there in the finals

We had a derby party and watched the finals for qualified scout and then all of the OPEN graphite. There were a few hiccups but nothing major. YOU GUYS DID A FANTASTIC JOB. Everyone is excited about next year.
The only problem we had was in heat 56 (I think) one of our cars (Lukes) was not his car. I have no idea who it belonged too. Luckily even though it ran over 3 he still made the finals. Can't wait till next year, keep up the good work.

Congrats on the Hardware Ice!
