Hopefully this don’t start anything but who has the best mid America wheel? Is there a clear leader? Or is it pretty close. DD4H seems popular. Jewkes has a wheel. I would say Joel does very well at that race also. I’m really not sure of anyone else that makes a wheel for that race.

I also remember a post last year that was a parts list for a mid America car. I can not seem to find it with the search so if anyone can find that I would appreciate it. Maybe it was on another forum.

thanks

All the vendors do a great job at wheels cuts and I have favorites from all of them. Just be aware that any wheel can easily be turned to junk by an in proper prep. Practice practice practice

I think all of the vendors generally provide good wheels. In mass production there is always a few bad ones that slip through QC though.

A lot of the league racers cut their own wheels, myself included. And most of them will cut you wheels if you ask, myself included also. I just don't have a big inventory of wheels though so I usually cut whatever is sent to by whoever is needing wheels cut.

Who's cuts the best MA wheel?... That's a loaded question. The fastest MA racer in the country doesn't cut his own wheels. That guy can make any wheels faster than most everyone else though.

Question for you guys that turn your own wheels.
1. When you turn your mandrels in the lathe to hold the wheels for turning down the outside of the wheel, I’m guessing you keep them a couple thousandths big to hold the wheel. Is it a couple thou? 5 thou?
2. I remember seeing a video on you tube of a guy lathing wheels. After he did the outside he had a cup that he put the wheel in to hold it wile doing the I side. (I’ve looked for days now for that video and I can not find it ) is this a standard procedure?

I think you’re referring to the spacewalker video. Do a search on YouTube and you should be able to find it.
I cut a pin for my wheels. Yes I keep it about .002 large so the wheel fits snug
