I know it has been done before but what if u ran 1 gram on the front wheel and some heavier tires on the back or other way around? Just been thinking again. Its for a scout/graphite car. On a freedom track 42ft also, not much of a slope. Anybody ever played with this?

If you are allowed to run lighter wheels, all the way around I would think that would be faster???

That's what I thought to chief. Just thinking again. Its raining here and nothing to do.

Slightly off topic but when stuck using wheels out of box, often find a range of 2.5 to 2.7 gm. I use the heavy for NDFW then use the lightest wheels on the kid's cars in order of need. ie scout race/lighter- sibling race heavier.

To echo those before me, as long as the track is not obnoxiously long (somewhere around 55-60 feet), then lighter wheels are always faster. DD4H's razor wheels are between .3 and .5 grams because of this concept. The main advantage to light wheels is that heavy wheels start slower than light ones and take longer to gain maximum rpm's. Lighter wheels provide a faster start and reach maximum velocity faster. The heavy ones do have more rotational inertia however, so if the track is too long they will pass the light wheels at the end of a longer track.

Yep the track is 42 ft and a freedom track, not much slope like the best track. I will go with 1 grams for wheels. Thanks again guys!!! we are not stuck using the wheels in the box. Rules just say must have BSA on the outside. It can b lathe and lightened up. But can not change the tread width.
