OK, I expect to take some flak for this, but here goes ...
Most months, maybe 4 out of any 5, I only have time to really build one new car and to modestly reprep several others. I am very busy and I build slow ! If I say I built a new car for a certain race, it's likely I started with 2 or 3 and wasn't happy with the others. Most bearing car "repreps" are just blowing air on the bearings and running the outer edge through the nail buffer. My Street Rods most often only get a wheel tread cleaning. This is all I can do before getting together with 'the boys' in Andy's basment for a typical couple hours of tuning prior to sending cars in. The (root and regular) beer and camaraderie (and fair ship of kidding/ribbing) is the best part. I really couldn't compete without benefit of these tuning sessions and am very impressed how some people do without access to a track.
I will say that I have no clue how some people build and prep new cars for many different classes, or a bunch of a certain class, all at once. When ever I try to make a bunch of new cars I usually fall flat on my face with 3/4 of the parts prepped and no cars. (Unfortunately I re-learn this lesson at least once or twice a year !) The alternative is to seek perfection and never race. John puts up the schedule as soon as he can and we all live with it. Sometimes it is in our favor, sometimes not. The world doesn't end either way.
All that said, that's life ! I am here to race and have fun in a hobby and with people I enjoy. The time we put into our various endeavors are all choices. I accept my lot. I very rarely post in these "what are you going to send ..." threads because I never know what I can send until virtually the last minute. No one is in a committment here except for John. The excitement builds after you send cars in and then we just wait for the race.
So play with the toy cars however you can between races, send in what you can, kick back and enjoy.
