this car weighs .8oz with paint need to figure out how to lighten it for more weight

I will take a guess and assume that the basic body was purchased from DD4H (the "Viper" cut). I am also going to assume that the weight pockets are routed out, but the remainder of the car is solid wood. If this is the case, most league racers cut out the wood between the front weight pocket and the front axle; moreover, paint is heavy (although you would not think so). League racers typically cover the top-side voids with either vinyl (scraps can be had for free from a local sign shop) or monokote repair strips (self -stick). If you are looking for a more durable top, you could use 1/64" birch plywood to cover the top (found at most hobby shops), prior to the application of vinyl/monokote. To cover the voids/weight pockets on the bottom of the car, a lot of folks use 3M aluminum foil tape (I think it is 3380, but not completely sure without checking what I have). One roll would last a lifetime. Those two modifications would substantially lighten the body.
